With all the hype surrounding the Iron Man movie there have been alot of stories about real life attempts to make powered armor. While a flying red and gold suit with repulsor gauntlets is still a ways off, there does seem to be progress on the exoskeleton front. Hack-a-day has a pretty good survey of the history of exosuits.
