Npr discovers Steampunk!


All things Considered did a brief story on the "new" asthetic known as Steampunk...um took them long enough.

What? They've never read Jules Verne? I would have expected better from these people. Good thing I don't get my news from them.

Having recently read 20,000 leagues under the Sea, I don't blame anyone for not reading Verne. The ideas are great, the action when it occurs is good, the characters are paper-thin and most of the book is as boring as sin. Pages upon pages of marine life taxonomy.
Still you'd think NPR would know better, the term steam-punk itself must be about 20 years old by now. when did The difference Engine come out?
